You can tell your kids the history of Santa Claus, which will surprise them. You can also share trivia or fun facts about Christmas with your family. Spend some time with your family reflecting on Bible verses related to Christmas. Or, relax and watch one of your family-friendly Christmas movies. You can also make everyone laugh with these Christmas games.

These Santa tracking ideas can be used to help keep Christmas magic alive for your whole family. This is how you can follow Santa’s journey around the world on Christmas Eve.

How to track Santa with NORAD

According to NORAD’s website in 2005, a child called a number from a department store that claimed to have a direct line to Santa. Instead of calling the store, the number was answered by a commander from the North American Aerospace Defense Command (or NORAD). Although NORAD is primarily focused on tracking flying objects for national defence purposes, the organization has established a team to track Christmas’s most important object every Christmas Eve since that initial phone call 60 years ago.

Ceium software developer Hannah Pinkos tells Woman’s Day about the special history of NORAD’s Santa tracker. She says, “We have a long tradition of tracking Santa.” She says that NORAD Tracks Santa was the first to launch an online Santa tracker in 1995. It is also the first Santa tracker to use 3D models of Santa’s journey rather than a 2D model. NORAD reported last year to ABC7 News that they receive more than 100,000 calls annually and that the Santa tracker website has more than 30,000,000 visitors each Christmas Eve.
